70 acre Unpatented Gold Mining Claim Fiddler Gulch, OR Click any image to see it full size Item Description &#8211; Up For Your Consideration &#8211; We realize now that we were too hopeful in the value of this claim when we first listed it. Most 40 acre claims on this gulch have sold from $3500 to $5000 in the recent past. &#8220;Piglet&#8221; which is just downstream from this one sold for $4500 last week. Piglet is 40 acres. Now we have priced this claim to sell quickly. Don&#8217;t miss this opportunity because of our wishful thinking. We thought because there is Lode on this claim as well, it was worth more. But without any info or assays from that lode deposit, it doesn&#8217;t increase the value of the claim. This is an Un-patented Gold Mining Claim on one of the best known gold producing Feeder gulches of one of Richest creeks in Oregon! Fiddler Gulch, a tributary of the Legendary Josephine Creek of Josephine County! About 40 acres within the lines of these claims shows ownership by 1 person continuously held from 1950 to 1999. There are many lode claims, and the area is almost completely covered with placer claims on Josephine Creek and it&#8217;s Most Famous Tributaries. Some of the best known gold producing tributaries are Canyon Creek, Days Gulch, Fiddler Gulch, and Tennessee Gulch&#8230; just to name a few. There are many lode claims on Fiddler, and there are placer claims are along almost the entire length of Fiddler Gulch as well. The &#8220;Mood Mine&#8221; and &#8220;The Neil&#8221; mine are very close to, if not on these claims. ( Which were both great past gold producing lode mines ) The &#8220;Mood Mine&#8221; has over 2000 Ft. of tunnels and yielded thousands of ounces of gold. The Quartz Veins are thick up here. Some are a few feet thick. There are other lodes ON, above, and below this claim on Fiddler gulch as well. All you have to do is google Fiddler Gulch, Josephine Creek and/or Josephine County, and you&#8217;ll see just how productive it was, and more importantly, still is. We currently own a 70 acre block on Fiddler Gulch. This 70 Acre parcel is on located along the North Fork of Fiddler. The road stops on the claim, but it&#8217;s rough. There is difficult access to the gulch, and it&#8217;s very steep in places. There are a few areas where it&#8217;s flat and easier to get down to the water, but trails will have to made and/or widened. The road goes up to the &#8221; Lode Mine or X &#8221; and stops on the southwest side of the gulch. The road crossing the gulch is just downstream ( a hundred yards or so ) from the lower southeastern line. This would make it a little easier to float a dredge upstream. You can also file for a &#8220;Dredging Extension&#8221; on Fiddler Gulch ( this gulch is not a trout or salmon habitat ), so you can have a longer season to get the gold. Most of the more experienced prospectors only look for claims that are a little more difficult to get to in areas like this. These claims show us that they haven&#8217;t been worked nearly as much as the ones with great access. Therefore, the richness of harder to get to claims is much higher than easier accessed claims. The chance of getting a large amount of gold is higher. Not many folks go up that way, besides gold miners and hunters during hunting season. It is secluded, you can feel safe, and don&#8217;t have to worry about leaving equipment around. Most miners look out for each other in this area. There is exposed bedrock in many places along the gulch on the claim. There are huge boulders, good size gravel bars, small sand beaches. There are a few twists and turns on the claims as well, so some inside bends can be worked. The average depth to bedrock is between 2 and 8Ft. High ancient benches with some cemented gravels &#8211; these high benches of ancient river channel have been worked in many places along the gulch and surrounding gulches and creeks &#8211; they produced very good gold &#8211; there are drift mines all over the place around the area. The ancient river channel has been worked successfully and very productively in many places along Josephine Creek, it&#8217;s many tributaries, and many surrounding creeks and their tributaries in the area. They have produced an amazing amount of placer gold from these high bench placers. There are drift mines all over the place around the area. A drift mine is where miners would undermine the cemented gravels by tunneling through the bedrock ( sometimes thousands of feet ), using dynamite and drilling techniques to get to the cemented gravels sitting on bedrock on the bottom of the high benches or the upper banks of the creeks and gulches. There have been many huge pockets of gold mined by using this method. These are also considered lode mines. The gold is larger up here. Nuggets, pickers, and coarse. Much less fine gold because of the elevation and we&#8217;re closer to the sources or Lode Mines on these claims. We have situated this claim to go directly along the gulch. As you may see in the Topographical Map, there are 11 parcels separately outlined, all of these are being sold as &#8221; 2 &#8221; claims in this auction. The top 20 acres and the bottom 50 acres. Also, in the second furthest downstream parcel there is an &#8220;X&#8221; up on the south bank of the gulch, which says &#8220;Mine&#8221; next to it. This means there is an old lode mine located there. We have not explored this portion, nor have we determined which &#8220;Mine&#8221; it is&#8230; could be the &#8220;Mood Mine&#8221; or the &#8220;Neil&#8221;, so this is also another possibility for mining. I have worked up in this area, more so on Josephine Creek ( dredged with a 6&#8243; and moved huge boulders with a crew ) for a few years, and can attest to and will provide pictures to you of the gold in this area. A partner of ours has owned a claim up on Fiddler for many years. His claim is &#8220;Piglet&#8221; which is just below this one being offered. He has come up with some pretty decent gold. Just ask and I will email you pictures and videos of us dredging and of the completed cleanup from last years work on Josephine Creek! There are some video links below that you can watch. We will be working Josephine Creek again this coming season. We be within shouting distance of this claim for years to come, so rest assured&#8230; you will be getting a good claim on a well known gold producing gulch. Claims have been active, productively and actively mined in this area for over 100 years. Almost everyone who works their claim in this area during the season are good and honest folk. We work hard all season long and are always willing to lend a helping hand. We will be up there this coming season to go at it again, so rest assured, this is a legitimate, workable, and profitable claim. : Access : A nice graded road after you have crossed the <a href="http://land-fsbo.com/search.cfm?State=Illinois" class="kblinker" title="More about illinois &raquo;">Illinois</a> &#8221; Big Green &#8221; Bridge, which is close to where the paved road ends. From Cave Junction, OR take a left at us-199N/Redwood Hwy for 4.8 Miles, Turn Left at 8 Dollar Rd/ Nat for Dev Rd 4201 3.8 Miles. Continue onto Nat for Dev Rd 029 2.6 Miles. I recommend high clearance 4WD, or a quad of some sort. Any Topo map and our directions will get you there. I&#8217;d recommend a GPS to make it simple. The claim is roughly 10 miles from Kerby as the crow flies. If you don&#8217;t have wings, then you might feel safer on the road. Kerby is a beautiful small town roughly 12 miles and Cave Junction is 14 or 15 miles by road. CJ is a decent sized town with all the amenities. They have a Dairy Queen and a Subway, a couple grocery stores, hotels, ammo stores, radio shack, etc&#8230; A perfect spot to &#8220;hotel&#8221; camp when the elements get the best of you. Easy access Almost all the way up to the claim. A short distance from the lower southeastern line of the claim, the road ends, and it gets rough. Then there are trails going into the claim. For more experienced miners this is a good sign. This means that the claim hasn&#8217;t been worked to death, and gives it a larger possibility of being more productive. : Workings : Some of the upper benches above the gulch ( ancient river channels ) have been mined in places and can still be mined in many more places, productively. There are signs of &#8220;Chinese Diggings&#8221; in many spots on the benches of Josephine creek and also on Fiddler Gulch. It&#8217;s unbelievable the amount of work that has been done in this area. Perfectly stacked tailings&#8230; wood and rock cabins still visible&#8230; BUT the old timers didn&#8217;t have the equipment we have today. There are many spots that have virgin ground and even the tailings piles have gold that they missed. We have not been able to work this claim as of yet. ( Besides testing and sampling ) Prior ownerships spanning from the 1950 to 1999, and from 1999 to present proves to be a telltale sign of good gold. This area is believed by many Geologists around the country to be an extension to the <a href="http://land-fsbo.com/search.cfm?State=California" class="kblinker" title="More about california &raquo;">California</a> Mother Lode deposits. Which is why the upper benches produce such great values. There are great placer values on this 70 acre parcel. For those of you that are concerned about me with the little feed back,not to worry, I can put your mind at ease. I have been selling my claims with luckyshotau999 on listing for the last 10 years or so, and they are taking some time off away from the computer and are out mining and prospecting. Yes, they are lucky! I am on the computer now and I don’t like it. I will be stopping in the shop every couple of days to check my e-mails, so hang on and I will get to you real soon to answer any questions you may have. I am out prospecting and mining myself. If you have been watching mining claims on listing for the last 10 years or so, you have seen the user ID of luckyshotau999 selling many claims. They are actually very old close mining friends of mine for about 30 years now. Being offered is a 40 acre claim which I could have filed on a 160 acres like many claim sellers do, but the truth of the matter is 99% of the time on a 160 acre claim–80% of that claim will have little to no gold. Your placer gold in Oregon and northern <a href="http://land-fsbo.com/search.cfm?State=California" class="kblinker" title="More about california &raquo;">California</a> is going to be found in the stream or river beds or the gravels just outside of the flow of water. In some cases there are ancient channels like down in the Mother Lode country in California, but I have been prospecting Oregon and northern California for roughly 35 years and I have found very few gold bearing gravel deposits high above the creek, river, stream, etc. The majority of the 160 acre claims that you usually see for sale in Oregon usually have just a small portion of the creek running through the corner of the claim and sometimes through the center of the claim, but the other <strong>acreage</strong> is usually up on some hillside that you have to be a mountain goat to get to and there is only top soil and brush and solid bed rock with no gold bearing gravels and sands. So bottom line is don’t be fooled by thinking your getting a 160 acres of gold bearing gravels. It usually snows two or three times a year in this area and then melts off the same day and sometimes not. I have always been able though to access my claims in this area. The snow has never been to deep to get there. As you can see in the pictures provided of the actual claim you will notice some snow, these pictures were taken about 3 months ago when we were down there digging. This claim is located on Glade Creek in Jackson county, Oregon The name of the claim is Gold Claw 1. The claim is legally recorded in the Jackson county recorders office and with BLM. The ORMC number is 168873 This claim is located in Section 18, Township 40 S, Range 1 W of the Willamette meridian totaling 40 acres. Here are the directions on how to get to this claim. From Grants Pass Oregon you will take 238 East 21 miles to the small town of Ruch. You will turn right on Applegate Road heading towards Applegate Lake. You will travel 2.8 miles on Applegate Road and turn left onto Little Applegate Road and then go 6.2 miles and the road will then turn to dirt. Go straight where it turns to dirt on the dirt road and you will go 8 miles and then you will go over the bridge and you will see Wagner Gap Road 2250 to your left. Just stay on road 2030 to your right and you will go about 1 ½ mile to the next bridge, go over the bridge and you will see a road to the left that is still road 2030, go up that road and you will be following the creek up. Travel roughly 1/2 mile and you will see my claim signs nailed to trees marking the south and north border of this claim. You will also see the pull in area to set up camp. I also own the next claim up the creek which is Gold Claw with an ORMC # 168872 and that is $4,000 also or you can purchase both claims for $7,000. This claim also has the borders marked. Each of these claims offer a little over 1/4 mile of creek per claim. There is also exposed bedrock in and out of the creek on both claims. So that tells you that you won’t have to go 100 ft. in search of bedrock. This creek has plenty of water flowing through it during dredging season to run a 4 inch dredge and up to a 5 inch dredge comfortably. I have recovered gold in the creek itself and out of the benches/banks on these claims. It is a really nice area with a really nice claim and a really nice creek. You will not be bothered by others. Its off the beaten path. As you can see on the TOPO map I laid out these claims so that the creek flows pretty much through the center of the claims. There are some nice camping areas on these claims which will accommodate RV’s, campers, trailers or ?? The pictures you see are of the actual claims. This is a set price auction, so if you would like to purchase this claim for the set price you will need to e-mail me with contact information such as name and phone number and then you would have to arrange payment by cashier check or money order or in person and once payment was received you would then place a bid and the auction would be ended selling the claim to you which would entitle you to a . By running a set price auction ensures that there will be no still bidding on the claim running the price up on you. Deed to this unpatented mining claim is guaranteed upon receive of payment. There are no liens or encumbrances on this claim. I do not accept Paypal. You do not need a Paypal account to purchase this claim. Payment must be received before anyone can place a bid. Once payment is received a deed will be notarized transferring ownership over to you. I do this because of all the phony fraudulent bids that are out there now days. This is for everyone no matter how many feed backs one might have. This claim is workable 12 months a year due to the mild weather with a sluice box, high banker, panning and metal detecting, and with heavy equipment and trommel with a wash plant. To work with heavy equipment you would need to file a plan of operation and have it approved with the appropriate through forestry. However, dredging seasoning is from July 1st through September 15th. For an Oregon dredge permit, rules and regulations, and seasons you can call  and they will send you out a package. There are no taxes on Oregon unpatented mining claims like they do in California. There is also no sales tax in the State of Oregon which makes it a good place to purchase your equipment. 　BEWARE If you see someone selling claims without BLM serial numbers, legal descriptions, such as township, range, section, name of claim and directions to the claim — RUN LIKE THE WIND. There are certain people who like to put on 10 to 12 claims at once, get them sold and then they and their user ID disappears and then a few months later they return with a new user ID and do it again. There’s absolutely no reason not to provide this needed information to a buyer before the sale. This would be a great claim for someone who doesn’t want to invest thousands of dollars into larger equipment. You can work this claim with small equipment with ease. This would be great if your not a person who wants to break their back hauling in large equipment. This claim also has good RV camping. This claim also offers some great high banking or just panning and running a sluice if that’s what you desire. There is a lot of nice old growth timber in this area and plenty of game. This is important to claim buyers&#8212;-When you see a 160 unpatented mining claim being offered for sale that means there are 8 or more people involved in that association for that mining claim. You can have 20 acres per person and not over 160 acres total for one claim. In order to sell/transfer that claim into a single name all eight members of the association would have had to made an individual independent discovery per 20 acres. If those requirements were not met, the new owner would need 8 names to list on the deed. This is a question to ask sellers and also ask to speak to each member or get in writing from each member of the association for that claim that they personally made a discovery themselves for their portion of the claim. You can definitely speak to both of us at anytime to verify that we each made individual discoveries on our claims. Therefore, our claims can be transferred to one or more people. I see many claims being filed on creeks where there has never been a claim filed on before. What’s that actually tell you? The old timers were quite thorough in this part of the country. If there was gold—there was claims. Don’t be fooled because someone calls themselves mining company’s, corporations, or mining associations. Truth is anyone who files a claim over 20 acres needs another person per extra 20 acres to do so and now they are known as an association, but it makes them sound good I guess. Be sure to ask questions that come to mind no matter how silly you may think it sounds. When someone calls a claim a quality claim, ask them what makes their claim quality. They like to say its in a rich historical county and that means absolutely nothing. A prime example of this is: The East Fork <a href="http://land-fsbo.com/search.cfm?State=Illinois" class="kblinker" title="More about illinois &raquo;">Illinois</a> River in Josephine County in SW Oregon is a very rich river. I’ve owned claims on that river and have gotten some beautiful gold out of that river and just to the SW of the East Fork a few miles is the West Fork Illinois River where you can dig and dredge all day and if your lucky end up with a speck or two. So when someone tells you their claim is quality because it’s in a rich county–that means crap. There are a group of people who have sold over a 100 claims in the last few years and they called each and every one quality and I know better. Most of the claims I have passed up for years. It is a great spot for 4-wheelers, bicycling, horse back riding, hiking, rock hounding, hunting and fishing, etc. all over this area on the old forestry roads. You will see elk, wild turkey and deer in the area. Here is another tid-bit that you don’t see some claim sellers telling you right up front. On any unpatented mining claim you do NOT own the actual land. The government actually owns the land. You DO however own the mineral rights and the minerals being gold, silver, platinum, and the right to use as much of the surface of the land that is needed for your mining operation. You do have the right to hold this claim forever as long as you do the necessary paper work which consists of filing your annual labor form with the county of Jackson and performing $100 a year annual labor which is working your claim at least 10 hours per year and sending off your $10 fee to BLM along with your small miner waiver form or for some reason if you rather pay the maintenance fee of $145 instead of performing your annual labor you can do so, but if there has been a small miner waiver put in place by the previous owner you will still need to file your annual labor for that year. This claim has never had a small miner waiver filed on it, so you could easily just pay the maintenance fee. This is something you want to check with the previous owner about no matter what claim you buy. You may also have someone else perform that 10 hours for you if you wish. You have the right to sell the claim or subdivide portions if you wish, lease it, will it to anyone, so in other words this can be in your family for many years to come and this is definitely a claim worth owning. They are not accepting applications to patented mining claims at the present time, however this could change at anytime and they may start accepting applications then you would be able to submit an application for a patent and if it was approved meaning that if there is enough valuable minerals present you would get a patent on the claim meaning you would own the land then. Then and only then would you actually own the land on any unpatented mining claim. To make a long story short–If you would like to purchase this claim you will need to contact me with your name and phone number and I will then tell you where to send the payment and once payment is received you can then place a bid on the auction and I will end the auction selling the claim to you. That way listing gets their fees. 　This claim is going to be for sale for the price of $4,000, but I do not use the  button. I am not going to use the  option for the simple reason there is a group of people out there that likes to use the  option just to leave negative feed back on other sellers just to try and make themselves look good. I am not mentioning any names, but they know who they are. The set price of this claim is $4,000. We also wheel and deal in precious metals. You can purchase this claim at any time throughout this auction. Anyone placing a bid outside of the terms and conditions of this auction–that bid will be cancelled INSTANTLY and the user ID will be placed on our blocked bidder list. I also strongly suggest before you purchase a claim that you speak to the seller in person or by phone and ask your questions and listen to their answers and the tone of voice and see what knowledge they have on mining. When we sell a claim you don’t see it come back up for sale from the new owner like you see so many other claims as you see so many other claims come back up for sale from the new owners. I guess that tells you they weren’t such quality claims after all. Once payment is received a deed will be filled out and notarized and recorded in the Jackson County recording office and I would then mail you the original recorded deed and I would also send a copy to BLM along with the fee to transfer ownership. This would all be done by me and all fees would be paid by me. That way I know it is done and done right. I will also supply the new owner with the GPS readings for the claim, so you can find your corners easily. The new owner will also be supplied with maps and all necessary forms for up-coming years and a master title plat for this claim. I also reserve the right to end this auction at anytime as I also have it listed elsewhere. Keep in mind that Oregon and California are still the 2 most popular mining states in the country for the simple reason of the gold that is still coming out of the ground and rivers, creeks, and streams and the beautiful weather. And this is the truth on Oregon and California. It may take a day or two to get a response to your e-mail as we are out mining and prospecting our claims. The Price For This Claim is $4,000.
