This 3 miles of river being offered is one of a kind. You will not find this long of a stretch of this river being offered. I have been mining for close to 40 years and have never heard or seen of it. I have seen 20 and 40 acre claims sell for in the hundreds of thousands of dollars back in the 80&#8242;s on the Middle Fork and the other Yuba&#8217;s. One would think a claim of this magnitude would be listed for close to a million or more. Claims like this just don&#8217;t exist anymore with this much river frontage on this river. As you can see in one of the Big Ten&#8217;s California Gold Map (5th map) shown below the old tertiary Yuba River channel is running parallel with this group of claims. Over the last thousands of years this river has moved slightly to the east where it flows to this day. In the process of doing this it has brought with it much of the old Yuba tertiary channel gold. To this day some of that old channel gold is still being deposited into this river annually. This is a semi-remote area as you can see on the maps. Accessibily is not the greatest, but do-able which is a big plus for this group. This has kept many out of this area for many years. While on these claims you will find tons and tons of yards of unworked bench materials scattered along these claims. You will notice on the Terraserver aerial maps provided that the river sets down in a pretty steep canyon. What gold that has been washed down in there is definitely still down there. It didn&#8217;t come out on it&#8217;s own. You will also notice exposed bed rock from one end to the other end. This bed rock is a lot of sharp, jagged natural traps sticking above ground. It is also being fed yearly by the remains of the old hydraulic operations in the area where they actually lost most of the finer gold out of their boxes. Nuggets weighing into the ounces are not un-common on this river. Nuggets weighing into the pounds have been recovered from this river. I have recovered some beautiful nuggets off these claims. Below in the photo&#8217;s you will see a few of them that I managed to recover from my old computer. I have been trying to recover some photo&#8217;s off my old computer that crashed just over a year ago, but so far this isn&#8217;t working out well. I will be heading down in a month or two when the weather breaks and getting some new photo&#8217;s. I would recommend a person make arrangements with one of the local helicopters to do a fly-over. They can bring you down close to the river itself and huddle and possibly land to let you out and look around. This ride with the view in itself would be remarkable and unforgettable and well worth the price which isn&#8217;t all that bad. If your wondering why these claims are being put up for sale&#8211;it&#8217;s short and simple. He has owned this group of claims for 5 years and planned on one day getting some heavy equipment down there and making a killing, but he&#8217;s realizing that isn&#8217;t going to happen. He is so busy else where with so many other pieces of ground plus he still owns another 160 piece on this river which gives him a little over 3/4 of a mile of river which is more than enough river frontage for him to mine along with his many others. He&#8217;s also getting up in age and he&#8217;s finally realizing that he isn&#8217;t going to get around to properly mine all these, so he&#8217;s hoping someone with the ambition will. Believe me, these claims are well worth the time and energy it would take to mine them. Keep in mind a claim owner does have the right to improve accessibility to their claims and to work the gravels with heavy equipment. With an approved plan of operation the new claim owner could start a productive mining operation and cut a road in making better access to these claims. A person could probably, but that&#8217;s no guarantee, and get to know some of the locals and gain access through private property. Other than the large amount of placer gold that has been deposited within these borders, when I have been down there on these claims roaming around sampling and prospecting I have ran into a few rusty old quartz viens, some with visible gold and some you need a magnifying glass. For the size, price and quantity of gold on these claims an individual or group of friends or business associates may just want to pick this up and open up their own exclusive club. There is millions of dollars of gold within these borders I honestly believe. Obviously this cannot be guaranteed. The total taxes for this group of 4 claims is $692.96 per year. The claims are situated in both Sierra county and Nevada county. The reason for this is that the Middle Fork Yuba River divides the two counties. Below you will see some photo&#8217;s and maps. I will describe above each map of what your looking at. The aerial maps are courtesy of Terraserver. If these claims are still available in the early spring I will be going back down to take some more pictures. The Santa miner in this first photo is holding a nugget off the Middle Fork Yuba that is also for sale on listing at the time of this writing. This all TOPO map shows you the lay-out of all four claims. You will be able to use this map to piece together the aerial maps that follow. This first aerial map below is the farthest upstream. These aerial maps are in order of the river. Notice all the sharp, jagged bed rock sticking up out of these claims and the sharp curves and the natural gold traps. You will also notice on the outside borders of some of these claims some old large workings from previous miners. Second aerial map below. You can read the map descriptions from the writings on the maps. Below is the third aerial map which is the farthest down stream. There is roughly 3 miles of the Middle Fork Yuba River as it winds up through these claims. The map below is #5 of the Big Ten California gold maps. Notice near the upper right hand corner where I wrote and drew the claims in. You will notice the old Tertiary Yuba River Channel just to the left of the claims which is the blue line you see. These claims are located roughly three and a half to four miles NW of Graniteville which is off Graniteville Road. The Lafayette Ridge is just to the west of these claims. These claims are also 5 miles SE of Downieville, California. Shown below is a gold display in the Sierra County recording office. They say it is not the real gold, but rather exact replica&#8217;s. Whatever. Replica&#8217;s or not these are the kind of nuggets taken from this area. Do you get an idea of what I&#8217;m talking about yet? This is just one photo of the small unique town of the well known gold mining town of Downieville, California on highway 49. These are some nuggets I retrieved on a trip down there. Running a high banker a couple years ago. Running a dredge on one of the claims. Two claim pictures below. The new owner of these claims will be responsible for the assessment work and fees that are due on or before September 1, 2011. On any unpatented mining claim you do NOT own the actual land. You DO however own the mineral rights and the minerals being gold, silver, platinum, or whatever and the right to use as much of the surface of the land that is needed for your mining operation. You do have the right to hold this claim forever as long as you do the necessary paper work which consists of filing your annual labor form with the counties of Sierra and Nevada and performing $100 a year annual labor each per claim which is working your claims each at least 10 hours per year and sending off your $10 fee to BLM along with your small miner waiver form or for some reason if you rather pay the annual maintenance fee of $140 instead of performing your annual labor you can do so. You may also have someone else perform that 10 hours each per claim for you if you wish. You have the right to sell the claim or subdivide portions if you wish, lease it, will it to anyone, so in other words this can be in your family for many years to come and these are definitely claims worth owning. The price for all four claims is $99,999 or $27,500 each. Would consider part trade or trade depending on what is offered. Gold is roughly $1.750 today 2-8-2012. It was $1,800 (November 13, 2011) that means you would only have to recover 55 or 60 ounces of gold to see a profit and with over 3 miles of the Middle Fork Yuba River that should not be much of a problem if you got the right equipment and man power. But if your looking for a claim cheaper in Oregon or California we also have some of those or know people and friends who does.I think you will see gold at $1.800 to $2.000 oz in 90 to 120 days or so Items of interest: Private property in the western states being California, Oregon, Arizona, Nevada, gold, silver, home, equipment, ??? I&#8217;m never going to be able to work all these claims the way they deserve to be worked plus I still have one I&#8217;m keeping in this area.
