BEAUTIFUL DEADMAN LAKE, ALASKA! The pictures below are actual pictures from standing on the lot. This land is 4.53 acres and is located on top of the highest hill on the SW side of Deadman Lake. The land is about 61 miles NW of Fairbanks, AK. This large lot looks to be one of the best lots in the subdivision. The lake is great for fishing, it teems with northern pike. The wildlife is plentiful. The Tanana River is 3 miles from either direction of the property. ACCESS: The best way to access this property is by float plane. The planes can land on water or ice. There are plenty of charter plane businesses at Fairbanks International Airport and in the surrounding area. I will give the buyer a list of charter flight pilots and businesses. The cost of a round trip from Fairbanks is about $300 for a small plane to carry yourself and light gear. Larger planes can carry construction materials , atv’s, snowmachines, or just yourself and your backpack. The more weight and bulk carried, the larger the plane and the higher the cost. A snowmobile ride pulling a sled from Manley Hot Springs is an inexpensive alternative. There are trails that lead from Manley Hot Springs or Eureka to Deadman Lake. One trail is a summer trail and one is a winter trail. These trails are also visible from Google Earth. I have not traveled these trails, but through extensive research and talking to the locals, I have found that these trails can be traveled by atv’s and snowmachines. Some parts of the trail may be too rough for an atv. Alaskan Land 5 Acres Alaska River Front Land Just out of College in the early 1970′s my brother and I decided to move to Alaska and homestead. Once there we found due to Native land claims there was no land open for homesteading. The only land available were five acre recreational sites. The price was $400.00 plus a residency and land improvement requirement. The state of Alaska allowed you to pay $40.00 a year for ten years and once you paid to have it surveyed they would give you title to the land. We built a cabin and went through the entire process and I have clear title to the land (see photos). The reason we selected this particular plot is that is it just a few minutes down river from Skwentna Alaska. Although this property is completely off the grid Skwentna is located across the river from a FAA weather station that has a gravel air strip. Mail is delivered to Skwentna once a week from Anchorage by a small air plane so it is easily accessible. My brother and I used to make trips to Anchorage a couple of times a year by boat to stock up on staples. The Skwentna river flows into the Yentna river which flows into the Susitna river which in turn flows into Cook inlet 25 miles from Anchorage. We lived there for a few years earning a living hunting, trapping and guiding until we both decided to take a break in the lower 48. When we left we had full intentions of returning in a few months however circumstances change and neither one of us has ever been back. Friends in the area wrote us that after a few years the roof of our cabin deteriorated and collapsed and I am sure after this forty years there is hardly a trace that we were there. We staked out the best five acres we could find and it is not exactly on the Skwentna river but about 100 yards up a little slough, on high ground, with sheltered water, away form the current of the main river. I have not been back there in nearly 40 years and things could have changed but we were helped select the location by a local resident that had lived there for 35 years before we arrived and he said it had not changed since he had been living there. This is a very remote area and to live there you have to be totally self sufficient. My brother and I are both in our 60′s, have no heirs, and therefore decided to sell our little piece of Alaska. I am sorry I have no photos of the place but am sure the deed and tax bill locations are enough to locate it on a map (see document photos). Teklanika Channel Lake These pictures were taken by myself in June of 07 and Aug of 2009. For sale is one lakefront lot consisting of 4.83 acres. This lake is located 15 miles southwest of Nenana, AK. Nenana is about 60 miles north of Denali National Park on Hwy 3. The lake does have fish in it, and the surrounding area has bountiful wildlife. The wildlife consists of bear, moose, wolves, deer, wolverine, and many other critters. The lake is packed with beaver. It would be great for a hunting and fishing retreat. The lake is marshy at the shores edge and the grass around the lake is wet, but the grassy areas near the trees are dry. There is only one small cabin on the opposite side of the lake. There is a good trail that leads from the main Hwy 3 at the city of Nenana to the property. There is physical and legal access year round using a float plane, atv, snowmachine, or plane with skiis to land on ice. Hauling building materials is much more economical to do in the winter. There was a forest fire at this lake in Aug 2009. Some pictures are before the fire and some are after the fire. The fire was 3 years ago and the area is recovering. The corners are marked with my flagging ribbons and the lot is surveyed and staked by the Dept of Natural Resources. The stakes are a little tough to find, but a handheld gps unit brought me right to them with a little seaching around the forest floor. The survey stakes have mushroom heads with clear markings and numbers stamped on them.
